Ahlstrom continued to perform strongly in the medical and filtration markets.
Ahlstrom has also responded positively to the global coronavirus pandemic and fully integrated the company's other medical technologies with mask products to further enrich its medical product supply.
Its medical and filtration businesses have tripled traditional mask capacity by reallocating production sites, moving beyond traditional manufacturing layouts, reusing existing products that would not otherwise be suitable for masks, outsourcing non-essential operations, licensing existing external companies with similar capabilities, and reactivating dormant assets.
At the same time, Ahlstrom's medical business manufacturing plant experienced an unprecedented surge in demand across all medical product categories. The company has expanded production, added capacity and adapted existing technology to global needs to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
"We are constantly monitoring supply chain related risks to ensure our production needs are being met," says Bonte. "We are also constantly on the phone with our global healthcare team to stay up to date and coordinate delivery times, production times and requirements, raw material delivery and supply chain flows."
